The Greater Los Angeles Zoological Association (GLAZA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1963 to support the city-owned Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, it oversees seven core functions that sustain the zoo’s operations, including fundraising for programs and capital projects, membership, volunteers, marketing and public relations, special events and site rentals, concessions and retail, and publications. Beyond these activities, GLAZA works to foster wildlife conservation awareness and to build broad community support for the L.A. Zoo and its programs. The organization and the L.A. Zoo share a mission to serve the community by creating space for recreation and discovery, to inspire appreciation for wildlife through exhibits and education, to ensure high standards of animal welfare, and to support biodiversity conservation and natural-habitat preservation. Their vision emphasizes leveraging Los Angeles’ diverse resources to be an innovator in the global zoo community and to offer dynamic experiences that connect people with animals.
