Golden Gate Regional Center (GGRC) operates as a state-funded nonprofit delivering supports to people with developmental disabilities across Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties. It functions within California's regional center system, assisting individuals and families in accessing services to promote greater independence and active participation in their communities. The California regional center system emerged through mid-20th-century legislation led by the Lanterman framework, expanding over time to cover broader disabilities and early intervention services for infants and toddlers, and today serves more than 300,000 people. Based in San Francisco in the San Francisco Bay Area, GGRC is a mid-sized nonprofit with hundreds of staff and maintains its online presence at ggrc.org. In December 2020, GGRC partnered with R&D Transportation Services to distribute personal protective equipment to the individuals and families served and to the agency’s providers.
