The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy is a mid-sized environmental nonprofit based in San Francisco, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1981, it has served as the National Park Service’s nonprofit partner, collaborating with the Presidio Trust, donors, and local communities to support the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which spans three Bay Area counties and includes sites such as Muir Woods National Monument, Fort Point National Historic Site, Alcatraz Island, Crissy Field, Mori Point, Lands End, and the Presidio of San Francisco. The organization acts as park builders, caretakers, ambassadors, and educators to connect people with parks and advance its Parks for All Forever vision. Its work sits at the intersection of national park sites, local communities, social justice, and climate resilience, and it provides volunteer opportunities and educational programs in the parks. A recent governance development in January 2026 saw new trustees joining its Board of Trustees.
