FabMo is an independent, all-volunteer nonprofit that diverts materials from landfills in the San Francisco Bay Area by redistributing surplus design materials for reuse. Each year, the organization handles more than 70 tons of items, gathering samples of textiles, tile, wood, leather, and carpets from the Bay Area Design Community and offering them to crafters and artists during monthly events. In addition to material reuse, FabMo accepts donations from individuals, with guidelines available on its website. The organization serves makers and crafters working in sewing, knitting, weaving, painting, and related crafts, including educators and charities, by providing access to materials, inspiration, and workshops within the Bay Area. It operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by a community of crafters and donors, and is based in Sunnyvale, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a small, volunteer-driven entity with a history of more than two decades, FabMo relies on volunteers to collect, sort, and distribute materials and to fulfill administrative needs.
