Easterseals Maine provides services to people with disabilities or special needs and their families to help them participate more fully in their communities, whether through learning, work, or recreation. Based in Portland, Maine, it is part of a four-state Easterseals network that includes Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York, a configuration described as progressive and diverse within the national organization. In 2006, the group served more than 500 individuals of all ages and provided more than $350,000 in free and reduced-price services to children and adults in need.

Within the Armed Forces industry designation, the organization positions itself as a direct-service nonprofit focused on disability-related support for families. For more than two decades, Easterseals has allocated about 90% of its dollars to direct services, a share noted by the National Health Council.
