About Earth Trust Earth Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to caring for the extraordinary landscape around Wittenham Clumps in Oxfordshire — creating a place where nature and people thrive together. For over 40 years, we’ve been restoring habitats, nurturing wildlife and practising nature-friendly farming across this much-loved landscape. But this is more than conservation — it’s a living, working landscape where people, farming and nature go hand in hand. A place for nature Farming shapes over 70% of the UK’s land, meaning the future of nature is closely linked to the future of agriculture. How we farm — how we grow food, improve soils and manage the land — has a profound impact on biodiversity. At Wittenham Clumps, we demonstrate how working with natural systems can support both productive farming and thriving wildlife. A place for people We are a gateway to nature for many. Each year, we welcome thousands of children and young people to learn outdoors through hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and inspire lifelong connections with the natural world. For visitors, it’s a place to walk, play, discover and connect — with wide skies, rich wildlife and space to breathe. Earth Trust is also a place of belonging. Generations have formed memories here, and our volunteers play a vital role in caring for this landscape — helping it thrive now and for the future. Guardians of an iconic landscape Visitors can feel thousands of years of history beneath their feet — from the Iron Age hillfort on Castle Hill to Roman settlements and archaeological discoveries that reveal how people have lived and worked here for millennia. By bringing people and nature together, sharing practical solutions and inspiring new ways of thinking, Earth Trust is shaping a future where landscapes like this continue to flourish for generations to come.
