1903 gegründet, gehört das Deutsche Museum mit seiner kostbaren Sammlung wertvoller Objekte zu den bedeutendsten Technik- und Wissenschaftsmuseen der Welt. Es zeigt Meisterwerke der Naturwissenschaft und Technik an fünf Standorten: Im Haupthaus auf der Museumsinsel, im Verkehrszentrum auf der Theresienhöhe, in der Flugwerft Schleißheim, im Deutschen Museum Bonn und im Deutschen Museum Nürnberg, dem Zukunftsmuseum. 

In der großen Zukunftsinitiative werden bis 2028 in zwei Abschnitten die Ausstellungen auf der Museumsinsel grundlegend erneuert und das Gebäude auf den neuesten Stand der Technik gebracht.
