Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a nonprofit organization that runs a nine-month program for seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies. The program employs an objectives-based mentoring process to help technical founders improve performance through guidance from experienced entrepreneurs, with the aim of maximizing equity-value creation. Founded in 2012 by Professor Ajay Agrawal at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, CDL now operates 11 sites across six countries, including Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Halifax, Paris, Madison, Seattle, Estonia, Berlin, and Melbourne. The CDL model combines objective-setting, mentorship from seasoned tech founders, technical advice from leading scientists and engineers, hands-on support from top business students embedded in the companies, and opportunities to raise capital from angels and venture capitalists. The organization is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at 105 Street George Street, and employs between 501 and 1000 people.
