Who better to understand the needs of collectors than a passionate collector himself?

Our agency was founded in 1966 by Horace Harrison, a celebrated stamp collector and active member of the American Philatelic Society.

Harrison saw that conventional insurance companies couldn’t fully serve the needs of stamp collectors like him. So he created an agency that could: Harrison & Associates.

In 1983, he sold the agency to his fellow collector and friend, Dan Walker.

Walker, a former Wall Street securities analyst, came to realize that it wasn’t only stamps that needed specialized insurance protection—it was collections of all kinds.

So he expanded the agency’s coverage and eventually the name was changed to Collectibles Insurance Services.

In 2010, Collectibles Insurance Services was purchased by GBLI | Global Indemnity, a worldwide provider of specialty insurance and reinsurance products and services whose member companies are rated “A” by A.M. Best—the leading rating agency for the entire insurance industry.

Today, the company carries on the tradition set by Horace and Dan. And we continue to expand our products and distribution to further meet the needs of collectors and dealers.
