Climate Institute is a research services organization founded in 1986 and based in Washington, D.C., with offices at 1400 16th Street Northwest Suite 430, Washington, District of Columbia 20036, United States. It describes itself as the first organization dedicated exclusively to climate change and pursues climate solutions through global partnerships. The organization employs between 11 and 50 people. In 2017 the Institute announced the North American Supergrid initiative, proposing an underground HVDC grid overlay along existing rights-of-way in the contiguous United States with potential expansion to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, and Mexico. It has engaged in policy-related collaboration, including a 2014 partnership with European think-tank E3G to release a report ahead of a G20 meeting. Its website is climate.org.
