The Center for Advancement of Informal Science Education (CAISE) operates as a collaborative hub within the informal STEM education field, working in partnership with the National Science Foundation’s AISL program to build infrastructure, resources, and connectivity for educators, researchers, evaluators, and related stakeholders. Based in Washington, DC, CAISE coordinates a network of core staff and collaborators across the United States to characterize and highlight quality, evidence-based informal STEM learning work and to provide access to a growing collection of resources spanning project descriptions, research literature, and evaluation reports. The organization supports practitioners across diverse settings—including science centers, museums, zoos and aquariums, libraries, parks, and digital and community programs—through activities such as convening inquiry groups, workshops, and investigator meetings to identify needs and opportunities in the field. CAISE’s activities are rooted in NSF-supported initiatives and aim to connect and advance the informal STEM education ecosystem by facilitating collaboration among funders, researchers, and practitioners.
