Carolina Value Village operates as a family thrift store in Charlotte, North Carolina, offering a broad mix of budget-friendly items across clothing, home goods, and more. The stores aim for a department-store style shopping experience rather than a cramped thrift layout, with fair prices and a diverse assortment. The company traces its roots to 1990, when its first central North Carolina location opened, and it now serves the Charlotte and Greensboro metro areas, including Kannapolis, Mooresville, and Gastonia.

Items are largely sourced from charitable donations, so purchases support local communities while enabling reuse. Unsellable goods are recycled, reflecting an emphasis on environmental responsibility and resource conservation. The operation is a small to mid-sized local retailer and has earned local recognition, such as a Creative Loafing Best Clothing Store award.
