Established in 1939, Brookstone College of Business was previously know as Ashmore Business College and Asheboro Business College. Ashmore Business College was the first nationally accredited business college in North Carolina, while Asheboro Business College was the first junior college of business in North Carolina licensed to award degrees. In 1984, these two schools were combined and relocated to the Greensboro/High Point area. The new institution became Brookstone College of Business and the programs of study were shortened to certificate and diploma programs to facilitate quicker entry for graduates into the job market. A campus in Charlotte, NC was opened in 1987. Special Features: Brookstone’s convenient day, evening, and weekend class schedules allows students to attend class while working full-time, part-time, or managing a home. Lifetime placement assistance is offered to all graduates. Financial Aid/Scholarships: Federal Pell, FFEL, FDSLP, Work Study, FSEOG, and others. Approved for Veteran’s Training. Accreditation: Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools—ACICS and Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs—CAAHEP. Admissions: The admissions policy is designed to attract persons who have the capability and the desire to develop marketable skills in concentrated training programs. In order to be admitted into any program, a high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates are interviewed and tested to determine their capabilities.
