Founded in 1939 by Maurice Bugbee and Carlton Wallace as the Boys Club of Long Beach, it aimed to keep boys engaged through activities that foster responsible citizenship. Over its history, the organization has supported more than 300,000 youth aged 6 to 18, making it one of the area’s longstanding youth-serving institutions.

Recent initiatives include a 2022 collaboration with Curacao to provide a music program and a 2023 agreement with Long Beach City College to enroll school-aged children of LBCC students in free after-school programming.
