Bat Conservation International (BCI) focuses on conserving the world’s bats and the ecosystems they rely on, with activities spanning conservation, education, and scientific research. Its efforts have helped secure permanent protection for many of North America’s most important remaining bat caves and contributed to the creation of the first U.S. national park established to protect a tropical rainforest. BCI has sponsored research on the ecological roles of bats and has supported graduate-level training in 55 countries as well as bat-management and conflict-avoidance training for wildlife managers in more than 20 countries.

Based in Austin, Texas, the organization operates as a mid-sized conservation program. In 2025, BCI expanded collaborations with partners such as River Partners to study bats in California’s Central Valley.
