ATSSA operates as an international trade association dedicated to advancing roadway safety by coordinating legislative advocacy, traffic control safety training, and broad industry collaboration. Based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and founded in 1969, it unites players across the road, traffic, and highway safety sector through a large member network and regional chapters. Its membership comprises about 1,200 member companies and a number of international partners, spanning manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, public agencies, and other industry stakeholders. The organization serves as a forum for standards, information exchange, and education that supports the design, manufacture, and installation of road safety and traffic control devices within the public safety and transportation infrastructure space. In April 2026, ATSSA participated in its Legislative Briefing and Fly-In in Washington, presenting its Roadway Safety Champion award to Representative Rob Bresnahan.
