America’s Blood Centers is a national association made up of community-based, independent blood centers. Founded in 1962, it is North America's largest network of such centers. Its members operate over 600 donor centers that collectively serve more than 180 million people, account for roughly 60 percent of the U.S. blood supply, and deliver blood products and related services to more than 3,500 hospitals and healthcare facilities. The organization is based in Washington, D.C., and its U.S. members are regulated by the FDA, with Canadian members overseen by Health Canada. In 2025, ABC launched the Council of States to support its state-level advocacy efforts.
