Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity is a national nonprofit organization that coordinates a network of collegiate chapters, emphasizing brotherhood, leadership development, and community involvement. It is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. The fraternity traces its roots to Otis Allan Glazebrook, a Civil War veteran who advocated peace and reconciliation, believing that lasting harmony comes from people choosing to act with brotherly love. It collaborates with universities and campus bodies, such as the University of Alabama Interfraternity Council, to support fraternity-life initiatives on campus. The national organization has taken steps to strengthen governance, including hiring staff to investigate 2024 hazing incidents. It remains active in campus life through events like its annual Walk Hard send-off, reflecting ongoing participation in student programs.
