Sklavenitis is a Greek retailer operating in the grocery and general merchandise sectors, with a focus on foods, everyday consumer goods, and durable items. The company traces its origins to 1954 in Petralona, founded by two brothers, Spiros and Giannis Sklavenitis, together with Miltiadis Papadopoulos, initially distributing foods to small stores and packaging spices. In 1967 it launched Greece's first telephone-order service and, in 1971, opened its first supermarket on Leoforos Kifisou in Peristeri. Guided by its founders' emphasis on offering quality products at affordable prices, along with courteous service and a contribution to social progress, the business expanded over the years. In 2015 the Sklavenitis Group was formed, bringing together several entities in Greece and abroad, including Sklavenitis A.E.E. and Cyprus Limited, among others. Today the group operates hundreds of stores and maintains a sizable workforce, serving a large daily customer base, with recent expansion activity such as a new location in Malesina in 2020.
