York Academy Regional Charter School is a nonprofit public school serving kindergarten through 12th grade, delivering a curriculum anchored in the International Baccalaureate framework. The school educates about 950 students in a small, community-oriented setting in downtown York, Pennsylvania, combining rigorous academics with arts, music, and design/engineering programming. It is chartered by Central York, York City, and York Suburban School Districts, with students from eight additional districts, and there is no tuition to attend. Since its founding in 2011, the academy has expanded from a K–7 lower campus to include an Upper School for grades 8 and 9, opened in 2018, with a plan to add grades each year toward full K–12 implementation. York Academy is the only school in York County authorized to offer both the IB Primary Years and Middle Years Programmes and is pursuing Diploma Programme accreditation to enable college-level coursework within its classrooms.
