WOCAN is a women-led global network focused on agriculture and natural resource management, dedicated to advancing gender equality and environmentally sustainable development. The organization builds capacity and forums for women’s organizations and key supporters, enabling women farmers and professionals to access new resources that improve livelihoods and well-being, while also mentoring men who support them to drive transformative change within communities and institutions. WOCAN developed the W+ Standard, a framework designed to quantify and monetize results of women’s empowerment initiatives through a market-based, results-oriented approach. Based in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, the non-profit supports a diverse network of professionals and practitioners across sectors and regions, with an emphasis on measuring impact and fostering systemic change. In addition to its ongoing training and advocacy work, WOCAN engages in activities that connect climate action with women’s empowerment through its standard and related initiatives.
