Wichita Festivals, Inc. is a nonprofit organization formed in 1971 to plan and implement the Wichita River Festival, now known as Riverfest. Riverfest is the largest festival in Kansas and has been recognized as a top 100 festival destination in the United States. Each year the event draws more than 300,000 attendees over a nine-day period and contributes substantial economic activity to the Wichita area. The organization operates with a small staff of full-time employees and relies on thousands of volunteers to plan and run its events. It is governed by a 15-member board elected from the community, and funding comes from corporate sponsorships, in-kind donations, charitable gifts, and revenue from event activities such as food and beverage sales, merchandise, admissions, and Riverfest button sales. In 2022, Nancy Duling was appointed as president and CEO, reflecting leadership changes within the organization.
