WNCAP is a small organization based in Asheville, North Carolina, focused on HIV-related health care and harm reduction. Founded in 1986 in response to the early AIDS epidemic, it expanded from serving Buncombe County to addressing needs across 18 western North Carolina counties. Its mission is to provide equitable access to care and to reduce harm from HIV, Hepatitis C, and drug use through a range of services. The organization delivers HIV case management, prevention and education, HIV/HCV/STI testing, harm reduction and syringe services, a subsidized pharmacy program, and housing assistance across its service area. Based in Asheville and operating within the hospitals and health care sector, WNCAP serves people living with HIV or related conditions as well as those at risk, coordinating support to enable care access. In 2026, it planned to participate in the 24th annual Dining Out For Life fundraiser to support HIV care and prevention.
