West Virginia Rivers Coalition is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and improving the health of West Virginia’s waterways and the downstream benefits they provide. Founded by paddlers and whitewater enthusiasts, the group focuses on promoting water quality and ecosystem integrity across the state, leveraging analysis, citizen mobilization, and collaboration with allied organizations to inform policy debates and hold decision-makers accountable to science and public interest. Based in Charleston, West Virginia, the coalition operates as a state affiliate of the National Wildlife Federation and serves a regional audience concerned with river health and environmental stewardship.

In its ongoing work, WV Rivers engages in policy discussions, monitoring and advocacy, and partnerships to address water quality issues. The organization has participated in legal actions related to Clean Water Act violations and collaborates with other conservation groups to advance priorities such as climate action and watershed protections. With a modestly ranged staff and a focus on statewide impact, the coalition positions itself as a key voice for informed, science-based river management in West Virginia.
