West Metro Fire Rescue is a public-safety fire and rescue district based in Lakewood, Colorado. It holds international accreditation and an ISO 1 rating, functioning as a full-service, all-hazard fire and rescue organization. Formed in 1995 by consolidating the Lakewood and Bancroft Fire Protection Districts, it serves nearly 300,000 residents over more than 108 square miles in two counties and operates 17 fire stations; governance is provided by a publicly elected seven-member Board of Directors, and its service area includes the City of Lakewood, the Town of Morrison, portions of Golden and Wheat Ridge, parts of unincorporated Littleton and Jefferson County, Roxborough and Waterton Canyon, as well as the City of Edgewater. The department maintains a Training & Event Center in Lakewood opened in 2009, providing meeting and training space for public and private organizations. In January 2021, West Metro Fire Rescue launched a K-9 ROTC arson-investigation program to enhance its investigative capabilities.
