West Houston Christian Church, located in Houston, Texas, traces its origins to 1991 when about forty families established a church on the city’s west side under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Wong. Over the subsequent decades, under Pastor David Hsu, the congregation grew and sustained a practice of church planting, founding Katy Christian Community Church, Access Church, and New Hope Christian Church in the Woodlands, while engaging in partnerships to extend its reach regionally. In late 2023 the church formally changed its name from West Houston Chinese Church to West Houston Christian Church to reflect its evolving identity while preserving its Chinese heritage.

The church serves a Chinese heritage community and also welcomes a broader mix of attendees, seeking to gather people in the shared life of following Jesus. With a small staff, West Houston Christian Church maintains its role as a local worship and faith community that supports church planting and collaboration across Houston and beyond.
