The Washoe County Bar Association is a small nonprofit organization that serves as the local professional association for attorneys practicing in Northern Nevada. Founded in 1905, it aims to promote professionalism, ethics and service among its members and the broader community. It supports legal education and access to justice by sponsoring events and providing financial support to institutions like Northern Nevada Legal Aid and the Law Library, as well as by hosting activities such as judicial investiture receptions and receptions for new admittees to the Bar, and by sponsoring High School Mock Trials in Northern Nevada. Member benefits include two annual social events, access to The Writ, a free and searchable bi-monthly publication with updates from local attorneys and the Courts, and free or discounted CLE webinars and luncheons, in addition to discounts on ABA books and insurance through partner organizations. The association also maintains an online pictorial directory and a monthly e-newsletter to keep members informed of developments and court updates. A recent development noted in its news is a collaboration with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada for a Bar Food Drive planned for May 2025.
