Wallkill Valley Land Trust is a small environmental services organization based in New Paltz, New York. Founded in 1987, it partners with willing landowners to protect land and preserve Ulster County's rural character. To date, it has conserved more than 3,100 acres, including the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, four working CSAs, 17 agricultural properties, and three nature preserves (Mill Brook Preserve, Nyquist-Harcourt Nature Sanctuary, Phillies Bridge Farm), along with wetlands and forests such as Joppenbergh Mountain. The organization serves landowners and the broader Ulster County community by protecting ecological and cultural resources and by providing public access through conserved landscapes. Recent activity includes engagement with partner organizations to advance rail-trail improvements and participation in regional conservation forums, such as the 2025 Parks and Trails New York Empire State greenway trails conference.
