Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas (VOACC) is a faith-based nonprofit focused on housing, health and human services, with the aim of fostering self-reliance, dignity, and hope. Based in Lanham, Maryland, VOACC traces its origins to 1896 in Baltimore, founded by Ballington and Maud Booth, and operates as an early affiliate of the Volunteers of America network. The organization serves Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia and the Carolinas, aligning housing with health and human services to assist underserved populations. Together with the broader network, it touches about 1.5 million people annually in over 400 communities across 46 states, including DC and Puerto Rico. In January 2026, VOACC appointed Sharita Williams as Executive Director of Information Technology, reflecting ongoing leadership development within the organization.
