VNG AG is a European-focused utility group headquartered in Leipzig, Saxony, with more than six decades of experience in the energy sector. It operates along the gas value chain through a portfolio of gas and infrastructure services, supported by more than 20 subsidiaries. Its core strength lies in natural gas, and it is expanding into green gases and digital infrastructure under its VNG 2030+ strategy. The company employs a mid-sized workforce and serves customers across Europe. Among its green gas initiatives, the Bad Lauchstädt Energy Park aims to convert renewable electricity into hydrogen via electrolysis (up to 30 MW) and supply the chemical industry through a 20-kilometre pipeline, with hydrogen stored in an almost 180-metre-high salt cavern. In February 2026, VNG signed a memorandum of understanding with Acwa Power, EnBW, and Rostock Port to establish a green ammonia corridor from Yanbu to Rostock, enabling conversion of ammonia to green hydrogen for injection into the national core gas network.
