The University of New Mexico’s Center for High Technology Materials (CHTM) is a higher-education research facility focused on photonics and microelectronics. It operates as an interdisciplinary science and engineering center, offering end-to-end capabilities from design and modeling to materials development, fabrication, and system integration for its researchers and partner programs. Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, CHTM hosts a collaborative environment for students and faculty from UNM’s Optical Science and Engineering Program and multiple engineering, physics, chemistry, and related departments, as well as external partners such as national laboratories and private industry. The 60,000-square-foot facility includes a significant cleanroom and integrated laboratories for fabrication, manufacturing, and characterization, supporting technology transfer and economic development for the region. The center serves UNM and its collaborators, providing advanced scientific and technical expertise to advance nanoscale technologies and facilitate the translation of research toward practical applications.
