The University of Udine is a public research university based in Udine, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy, founded in 1978 following the 1976 Friuli earthquake to provide advanced training in cultural and scientific studies. It encompasses ten faculties across fields such as Agriculture, Economics, Engineering, Law, Modern Languages, Educational Sciences, Humanities, Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary Medicine, and Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, and serves about 17,000 students. The university emphasizes higher education, research, and technology transfer, with activities that engage the local community and pursue internationalization. It maintains extensive international collaboration through student and staff exchanges within the EU and with partners in Eastern Europe and other non-EU regions, alongside participation in numerous national and international research projects. A recent development noted in August 2025 is a collaboration with Confindustria Udine and iNEST to strengthen connections with the manufacturing sector.
