The University of the Virgin Islands is a public, coeducational land-grant university located in the United States Virgin Islands. It operates across multiple campuses—the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas—with a satellite campus on St. Martin and online programs, serving around 1,800 students. Founded in 1962, UVI is designated as a historically Black college and university (HBCU), reflecting its heritage and regional mission. The university offers a broad academic portfolio across five colleges and schools, delivering 46 undergraduate programs and 10 graduate programs with study tracks in areas such as business, education, public administration, marine and environmental science, nursing, psychology, and creative leadership. It also awards a Doctor of Philosophy in Creative Leadership for Innovation and Change, highlighting a focus on advanced research and leadership development in the Caribbean and beyond. In October 2025, UVI entered into a curriculum collaboration with the University of Puerto Rico to develop and implement shared curricula, illustrating its engagement with regional partners.
