Based in Piraeus in the Attica region of Greece, the University of Piraeus (UniPi) is a public university organized into ten departments, with programs centered on business management, computer science, economics, finance, and maritime studies. It is the second-oldest business school in Greece, and its Department of Banking and Financial Management is the oldest finance-focused academic department in the country. The university traces its origins to 1938, when it was founded as the School for Industrial Studies; it became a public university in 1966 and adopted its current name in 1989.
The university offers postgraduate options including an Executive MBA and a broad set of MBA and MSc programs across disciplines such as actuarial science, accounting, finance, banking, maritime economics, business administration, marketing, applied statistics, and economic and business strategy. Its Department of International and European Studies provides two English-taught MSc programs: American Studies: Politics, Strategy and Economics, and Energy: Strategy, Law and Economics. The institution hosts the University of Piraeus Research Center (UPRC) and has engaged in industry collaborations, including a 2025 partnership with Planetek Hellas to advance cybersecurity, blockchain, and AI-enabled technologies.
