Unified Fire Authority is Utah's largest fire agency, providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, and other emergency response capabilities to residents and visitors in Salt Lake County. It serves the cities of Alta, Cottonwood Heights, Draper, Herriman, Holladay, Riverton, Taylorsville, and the unincorporated areas, operating from twenty fire stations and three additional facilities including the Salt Lake County Emergency Operations Center. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, the authority serves more than 375,000 people and maintains a workforce of several hundred. In addition to standard fire and medical response, the authority maintains specialized units and capabilities, including a Bomb Squad, a Wildland Fire Division, Heavy Rescue and Hazardous Materials response. It is a co-sponsor of Utah Task Force 1, one of FEMA's Urban Search and Rescue teams, linking local emergency services to national disaster response networks. In 2024, Magna Fire Station 102 received an Award of Merit in the Government/Public Building category, reflecting recognition of its facilities.
