UK Markey Cancer Center operates as the cancer-focused component of the University of Kentucky and its UK HealthCare system. Founded in 1983, it is designated by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only institution with that status in Kentucky, and is led by B. Mark Evers, MD. Its clinical programs are integrated with the UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital, where multidisciplinary cancer teams collaborate with other hospital departments to provide primary care, specialized treatment, and access to clinical trials. Through Chandler Hospital, patients have access to diagnostic services, clinical and pathology laboratories, operating rooms, emergency and intensive care, and radiation therapy. The center is located in Lexington, Kentucky and has been recognized as a top 50 cancer hospital by U.S. News & World Report.
