UK Community Foundations (UKCF) is the national membership body for 47 accredited community foundations in the United Kingdom and two international members. Together, these foundations distribute more than £170 million in grants each year to charities, community groups and individuals. UKCF works with the UK government, corporate partners, trusts and foundations, and other donors to advance place-based philanthropy that benefits local communities. It also provides advice, learning, and resources to help its members and sector peers maintain high service standards for communities. The organization is based in Newark-on-Trent, England. Community foundations within UKCF’s remit focus on investing in local people and organisations to tackle key community issues and support some of society’s most disadvantaged members. They connect donors with important local causes through diverse giving schemes, including legacy giving, donor-advised funds, pooled funds, local appeals and campaigns, and other mechanisms. By coordinating these efforts, UKCF aims to strengthen philanthropy infrastructure and encourage collaboration across the sector. In May 2026, UKCF announced a collaboration with The National Lottery Community Fund to advance AI-enabled philanthropy, announced at an AI For Funders conference in London.
