Tru Thoughts is an independent music label based in Brighton, England, founded in 1999 by Robert Luis and later joined by Paul Jonas, with a focus on releasing a wide variety of music. Since the acclaimed first release of Bonobo’s Animal Magic, the label has issued more than two hundred LPs across genres such as electronic, funk, soul, hip hop, jazz, tropical and grime. The label’s roster is international, with artists from Australia, UK, USA, Canada, Brazil, Japan and Colombia, and it operates a sister office in Los Angeles alongside its publishing arm Full Thought Publishing. Its music has been used in major advertising campaigns, films and television shows. Notable milestones include Moonchild’s Voyager, Anchorsong’s Ceremonial placing at #5 in BBC 6Music’s Album Of The Year 2016 and Cohesion being named Album Of The Day in 2018, as well as Hot 8 Brass Band’s Roundhouse performances in 2017 and 2019. In January 2023 the label announced the signing of Steven Bamidele to its roster.
