Traverse Symphony Orchestra is a professional, part-time ensemble that serves northern Michigan as a leading regional performing arts group. It maintains a core roster of skilled musicians drawn from across the region, with many also holding positions at nearby institutions such as Interlochen Center for the Arts and regional school districts. An increasing number of performers travel from cities including Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor to participate with the orchestra.

Under Music Director Kevin Rhodes, who has led the ensemble for about twenty years, the orchestra has cultivated a season of concerts featuring guest artists from national and international circles, and in 2021 it announced a new summer series supported by a donor family. Its mission emphasizes delivering excellence in symphonic and other musical experiences for northern Michigan, while its vision aims to be a cultural model for the region through artistic excellence, strong leadership, and sustainable operations.
