Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK runs two automotive production sites in Burnaston, Derbyshire, and Deeside, North Wales, serving Toyota's European manufacturing operations. The company was established in December 1989 and began producing vehicles in 1992, with the Carina E rolling off the Burnaston line. Burnaston handles stamping, welding, painting, plastic mouldings and final assembly, while Deeside specializes in machining, assembly and aluminium casting. Together, the plants represent a substantial footprint in the region with around three thousand employees. TMUK has contributed to Toyota's hybrid-vehicle development in Europe, producing models such as the Auris Hybrid and later Corolla variants. A notable development in 2026 saw the launch of a closed-loop aluminum recycling system to support hybrid vehicle production.
