The Town of Irondequoit is a municipal government entity serving the Rochester region in New York. It is the only Irondequoit in the United States and sits along Lake Ontario, Irondequoit Bay, and the Genesee River, which supports a range of water-related activities. The community combines residential neighborhoods, parks and recreation facilities, and an active arts scene with local businesses, all within a short commute to downtown Rochester. In January 2023, the town named Peters its police chief, pending a background check. Irondequoit has pursued partnerships with local institutions and neighboring districts, including collaboration with the West Irondequoit Central School District and the Irondequoit Public Library. These efforts reflect the town’s role as a local government focused on community services and development for residents and visitors.
