Tinkering School provides hands-on educational experiences for primary and secondary students, emphasizing practical problem-solving with real-world tools. Its learning approach centers on doing, experimentation, collaboration, and building projects that challenge students to push beyond their perceived limits. The organization is based in San Francisco, California, and operates as a small, youth-focused educator in the broader K-12 landscape. Through its programs, it aims to develop resilience and teamwork by guiding students through active making and exploration.

Its offerings target families and schools seeking an alternative to traditional classroom instruction. In response to the COVID-19 shutdown, Tinkering School launched online camps in March 2020, providing each camper with a free Electric Motors Catalyst kit to support remote participation.
