The University of Tennessee Southern is a public four-year university within the University of Tennessee System, based in Pulaski, Tennessee. It sits on a historic campus that traces back to the founding of Martin Methodist College in 1870, with the institution established in 2021. The campus serves the southern Middle Tennessee region and is home to the UT Southern Firehawks, located about 70 miles from Nashville and 40 miles from Huntsville, Alabama. As part of the statewide UT System, UT Southern is connected to a broader network of campuses and state initiatives, including oversight of Oak Ridge National Laboratory through the UT-Battelle partnership. The UT System enrolls about 50,000 students statewide and produces roughly 11,000 new graduates each year, with more than 400,000 alumni worldwide. In May 2026, UT Southern announced a co-admission and transfer agreement with Columbia State Community College to strengthen pathways for Columbia State students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at UT Southern.
