The Tulalip Tribes function as a sovereign government in Washington, maintaining self-governance as a nation within a nation. A large share of their services is funded from within the community, supporting programs such as tribal member entitlements, housing, education, health, and infrastructure. The tribal government provides a broad spectrum of services, including health, dental and mental health care, law enforcement, fire protection, infrastructure improvements, and initiatives aimed at economic growth. The Tulalip Indian Reservation covers about 22,000 acres north of Everett and west of Marysville, with more than 4,800 tribal members and roughly 2,600 living on the reservation. The organization is based in Marysville, Washington. In January 2024, the tribe partnered with the Washington Farmland Trust to secure 117 acres of land in the Skykomish River watershed for environmental and cultural preservation.
