The Rainwater Charitable Foundation is a private family foundation based in Fort Worth, Texas, established in 1991 by Richard E. Rainwater. It began by funding initiatives that support children through quality education, reflecting the belief that strong schooling can transform lives and uplift families. Over more than three decades, the foundation has pursued its philanthropic work with humility, prioritizing meaningful partnerships and measuring the impact of its programs, while expanding its focus to North Texas families and children through education, upskilling, affordable housing, and childcare. In addition to education and family support, RCF funds research into primary tauopathies within neurodegenerative disease, aiming to address gaps in basic science, drug discovery, clinical trials, and talent development. Recent activity includes collaborations with the Aging Mind Foundation, the Alzheimer's Association, and CurePSP, and participation in the Tauopathy Challenge Workshop series, reflecting an ongoing emphasis on advancing neurodegenerative research.
