The North Ward Center is a nonprofit organization operating in the field of individual and family services, with a focus on serving an ethnically diverse Newark community in a financially sustainable manner. Its programs reach more than 10,500 people and address education, health, youth development, and family support through a mix of direct services and community resources. The Center offers free preschool through its Child Development Center, provides primary and preventive health care and therapeutic activities at Casa Israel Adult Medical Day Care Center, and runs year-round youth development and recreation activities for thousands of children. It also hosts the Newark Business Training Institute to teach English language skills to non-English-speaking adults and operates the Family Success Center to assist families in crisis; additionally, it founded the Robert Treat Academy Charter School, a two-campus Blue Ribbon K-8 charter school in Newark’s Central and North wards.
