The Family Place & Public Charter School is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit focused on supporting low-income families, with a particular emphasis on mothers raising young children under five. For more than 40 years it has offered education, critical resources, and social support at no cost to families, operating from a Mount Pleasant row house that the organization has owned since 1986. The programs are designed to address emergency needs, provide education and training, and connect participants with information and other social services within a welcoming, multicultural environment. Most clients are mothers with young children, and the services aim to meet immediate needs while helping families build on their strengths for independent success. The organization is part of the non-profit sector that seeks to promote stability and well-being for families in the District. In 2024, The Family Place DC received a Quality Improvement Award, building on the first award it earned in 2021 and reflecting ongoing program development.
