The Environmental Justice Coalition for Water is a statewide coalition of grassroots groups and intermediary organizations working to shape water policy in California. It aims to build a community-based movement for democratic water allocation, management, and policy development across the state. The coalition supports low-income communities and communities of color to advocate for water that is clean, safe, and affordable. Based in Sacramento, California, EJCW articulates a vision of water justice in which all communities have reliable access to water and to rivers, streams, and bays for domestic, cultural, ceremonial, recreational, and subsistence uses. With a very small staff, the organization coordinates statewide efforts within the public policy arena to advance these goals.
