The Dance Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1975 that operates within the performing arts sector. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, it supports a mission to make dance education accessible to everyone by fostering curiosity, creativity, confidence, and inclusive community through its programs. The organization serves a broad audience through three interconnected activities: Dance PARTNERS, which brings dance education into schools and community groups; Studio CLASSES, offering classes for all ages and abilities with tuition assistance; and Space RENTAL, providing downtown Homewood studios for teaching, rehearsing, and performances. Each year, the foundation reaches about 15,000 individuals and relies on a mix of program fees and diverse funding sources, including government entities, foundations, corporations, and individuals, supported by a volunteer board and the Children’s Arts Guild. A recent development includes the appointment of a new Director of Development as the organization approaches its 50th anniversary season.
