The Charro Foundation, the Scottsdale Charros’ Charitable arm, was founded in 1986 and is a separate 501 (c ) (3) entity. It is managed by a separate board of directors made up of Past Patrons (Chairs), Life & Active Members and outside community members. The Foundation is funded through the hard work and efforts of the Charros’ special events fundraising and Spring Training Baseball Proceeds. In addition, an investment fund is managed professionally with the oversight of a Charro Member Investment Committee and distributions are used toward scholarships and philanthropic efforts. SCOTTSDALE CHARROS CHARITABLE & COMMUNITY IMPACT The Scottsdale Charros raise money through year-round activities and programs including the Spring Training Festival, Last Pitch - our annual fundraising event kicking off spring training in Scottsdale - and hosting the San Francisco Giants during spring training at Scottsdale Stadium in beautiful downtown Scottsdale. Spring training is the premier annual fundraising event for the Charros. Welcoming more than 160,000 people to Scottsdale Stadium during the month of March makes it one of the top destinations for spring baseball. Funds raised through the sale of Charro Lodge passes and stadium advertising are donated back to the community. In 2013 alone, the Charros granted $620,000 in funding to support Education programming, Youth sports, Youth Education and to promote Scottsdale and its Western Heritage.
